Farwell launch

Launching Farwell was really fun! I am so grateful to JackPine for encouraging this project and helping us through the process.

Me and Jonah spent Friday night trimming the books at Nathan's dad's print shop, as well as signing and numbering the 100 completed copies.  We used a paper cutter that was more than 100 years old. I think this was fitting for our project, which is in part, about the juxtaposition of pasts and presents.

On Saturday, we drove down to Saskatoon, and met the JackPine collective as well as some of the other creators for dinner. We then went down to the venue and hung out until it was our turn to read. The room was packed and it felt really great to share our work. Before I read my last poem, I mentally told myself to savour the moment.

The other two books, Mari-Lou Rowley and Tammy Lu's Transforium and Taylor Leedahl's Hybird Hibiscus were so amazing. It was cool to see how our books were similar and different. All of our books seemed to explore ideas of evolution in one way or another, for instance.

I'm hoping to do a Regina launch in the spring... In the mean time, I will savour this feeling! I'll post when the book is available online :)
